Balhans College of Social Work is a premier institute dedicated to nurturing compassionate and skilled social work professionals. Established under the visionary leadership of Shri Mansinh Mangrola in 1965, the college has been managed by Gram Nirman Kelavani Mandal – A Gandhian Institute committed to values of service, equality, and empowerment.
We are affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) and offer a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree program that equips students with knowledge, skills, and practical exposure to address social challenges and bring about positive change in society.

The Balhans College of Social Work seeks to provide the highest quality of social work education to prepare committed professional social workers.
The Institute offers opportunities for teaching-learning through theory, practical, research, field action and extension projects in the context of the prevailing social, cultural, economic and political realities of our country.
Being a pioneering institute of social work education of this region, it sets standards for working with individuals, groups, communities and organizations in order to attain equality, equity, social justice, secularism and freedom so that all forms of discrimination and exploitation in the society can be eliminated.

Objectives
- Facilitate an understanding of the history and context of the communities and societies within which we function.
- Develop a local and global understanding of the dynamics of poverty and human development, and its impact on various social groups
- Develop an understanding of the dynamics of the state and civil society organizations in the context of transnational influences.
- Develop skills for devising and implementing effective, people-oriented interventions to ameliorate the miseries of marginalized populations and develop skills for practice-based research into social phenomena and issues.
- Develop appreciation for the values of social justice, human dignity, tolerance and respect toward ‘the other’ in a diverse society.
- Develop sensitivity toward the vulnerable sections of the population and recognize and uphold their right to participation in governance and to self-determination.
