Balhans College of Social Work

With the noble aim of increasing the spread of education in the remote areas of Gujarat, inspired by Gandhian thinkers like Shri Ravi Shankar Dada, the great son of Gujarat, and Shri Babalbhai Mehta, Shri Mansinh Mangrola established the Gram Nirman Kelvani Mandal in 1966 with the blessings of Shri Jugatram Dave (Vedchhi’ no vadalo). This journey, which started with just 18 students, has today become a big banyan tree. Due to which the spread of education in the tribal easttern area has increased.

Today, in the remote areas of Netrang taluka of Bharuch district, it has been working for six decades in the field of education and social activities for the upliftment of the tribal society. The organization tries to keep the culture of Rishi and Krushi (agriculture) alive.

The institution is working with the noble aim of establishing the ideas of great personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Vinoba Bhave, Swami Vivekananda, Jyotiba Phule in the society and strengthening the spirit of service in the new generation along with the spirit of Vasudaiva Kutumbakam.

This institution is striving to serve the society by implementing education in a new way according to the time and establishing new departments whenever necessary. At present, the following departments are functioning.

Eklavya Sadhana Uttar Buniyadi Vidyalaya

Establishment Year: 1966
Education is conducted in this institution according to the Nai Talim system. In which students from standard 9 to 12 are study now. The institution has its own hostel in which the students learn the lessons of coexistence. The institution has gained great fame in the field of sports. In which the inspiration of Donner Hansaben Mehta of Mumbai is the reason. She keeps encouraging the children of the institution from time to time.

PMSHREE Primary School Thava Branch

Establishment Year: 1977

This primary school owned by the district panchayat, students from Balvatika and standard 1 to 8 study here. Many students from the surrounding villages study by going up and down. Such as Bharada, Khabji, Garda, Thava, Dhanikkhut, Saijpur, Komlapada, Phulwadi, Kakadkui, Nana Jambuda, Arethi, Ambawadi. while students coming from distant villages study in the hostel run by the institution. There are about 450 students in this section. There are a total of 13 classrooms. The school provide education as per the government guideline.

PMSHREE Krishna Ashramshala

Establishment Year: 1980

Students from standard 1 to 11 study in this ashramshala. Hostel accommodation is mandatory. Tribal and poor children study in this section. Staff also stay there along with the students. Since the financial assistance received at present is not sufficient, it is difficult to provide modern facilities to the children. We are trying to complete it with the help of the well-wishers of the institute. Among the 6000 model schools declared by the Government of India, P.M.Shri Krishna Ashramshala of Bharuch district has got a place in it

Girivar Uttar Buniyadi Vidyalaya – Malsamot

Establishment Year: 1983

Girivar Uttar Buniyadi Vidyalaya – Malsamot was established in June 1983. With the school’s mantra of “Samaj Seva Ejguru Seva” and with a single student, the school started the uninterrupted service of the pre-education system (Gurukul education). Covered with forests, rich in natural resources, In the lap of the inaccessible hills of Vindhyachal and Satpura, covered with forests, rich in natural resources, children of illiterate, ignorant and naive tribal study in the hostel of institute. This institution, which started with 20 children, is today doing the uninterrupted work of education by becoming a banyan tree.

This department has a system of education from standard 9 to 12. Some co-curricular activities such as farming, gardening, and labor donation(shram dan), which fulfill Gandhiji’s ideas of self-reliance such as the phrase “He who works shall get his bread”, are also conducted in the institution. Keeping in mind the all-round development of the children, various programs are organized in the school by the enthusiastic and diligent principal of the school to develop the latent powers of the children and to awaken the children’s senses through sports activities, yoga education, and cultural programs.

Nootan Gram Vidyapeeth (BRS College)

Establishment Year: 1989

This Vidyapeeth was established with the noble aim of providing higher education to the children of the villages in the tribal areas and enabling the new generation to do the ancestral professions like agriculture and animal husbandry well. Bachelor of Rural Studies means education up to college level is provided. In which rural life agriculture and animal husbandry are taught in an experimental manner, which makes the children self-reliant. Various aspects like cowshed, organic farming and organic fertilizer are run. This is a three-year residential course, in which the students also learn the lessons of coexistence.

Jay Jalaram Talimi Snatak Maha vidyalay (B.ED College)

Establishment Year: 2002

The course of the second year trainees has been started at the beginning of the new session and the admission process of the first year students has been completed. At present, the institution has a co-educational system for boys and girls. The institution has an efficient and large staff. Gram Nirman Kelavani Mandal is an organization dedicated to Gandhian thought, therefore efforts are made to establish Gandhian thought by every trainee of the college.

Balhans College Of Social Work - MSW

Establishment Year: 2021

Students from tribal areas had to go to Bhavnagar and Rajkot for social work education. Therefore, Balhans College of Social Work has been established with the aim of providing MSW course in Gujarati medium to students from Bharuch, Narmada Tapi districts of South Gujarat at the local level. The dream of constructing a college building by donors Balkrishnabhai and Hansaben Mehta of Mumbai came true, hence the name Balhans College of Social Work has been shortened from the names of Balkrishnabhai and Hansaben.

The college is leading in academic and non-academic activities with 100 percent results. Swati Sawai Lal Vasava, a student of the college, has secured the first rank in the entire university in the April 2025 examination and has received a gold medal, which is a matter of pride for the college and the institution.
